3 ice activities for kids
Activities with ice are the perfect way to keep your kids cool and entertained during the hot summer months. Here are three simple activities they will love. And the best part: everything you need for them is already in your kitchen!
1. Building with ice. Prepare a larger quantity of ice cubes in different shapes. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt on a baking tray and ask your kids to arrange the first layer of their ice building. Once set, sprinkle some salt on the first layer, then immediately add the second layer and repeat as neccessary. If the layers won’t set, stick the sculpture in the freezer for a few minutes between layers.
2. Ice colouring. Pour two inches of water into a plastic container and freeze it. Once frozen, put the block of ice on a tray and have the kids colour on it with water colours. They will love to see how the colours mix as the ice melts.
3. Scavenger hunt. Freeze a some small toys (dinosaurs work really well for this game) in a larger plastic container. You can do it in layers, so that the toys are evenly distributed in the block of ice. Grab some salt, tools and warm water and let the kids dig out the toys.
